An early classic comes to your iPhone
Boulder Dash is one of the oldest franchises around, and surprisingly the basic format hasn't changed for 25 years! Boulder Dash - ROCKS! is the latest addition to the family, this time on your iPhone.
This Lite version only has 8 levels, but is fun never the less. You control Rockwell as always, and he's trying to collect all the jewels he can find. You can clear foliage away to move around and push boulders too. However, remove a block of bushes from beneath a Boulder it will fall, and if it falls on Rockwell he dies. There are various other foes and perilous traps to avoid too.
Boulder Dash - ROCKS! is a puzzle game in essence - moving things thoughtlessly will get you stuck, or make jewels unobtainable so you have to plan your route carefully, working out where boulders will fall, or need to be pushed. it doesn't sound very exciting, but Boulder Dash's 25 year existence is testament to the addictiveness of the game.
This version doesn't change the classic concept much, just adds some weaponry and enemies, as well as updated graphics. There are a number of control options, but the default on screen pad works well enough for Boulder Dash. The only real fault is the annoying sound effects and music, but the can all be turned off.
Boulder Dash - ROCKS! is a good version of the classic game, making it an addictive, playable puzzle game.
